George Victor Palmer, 91, of Sparks, died Friday December 5, 2014 at his home. Born June 7, 1923 in Butler, he was the son of the late William Albert and Mildred Naylor Palmer. He was the husband of Bessie Jane Palmer. He served in the Seabees during World War II. He was the owner of Gray & Son Construction and Maryland Paving, Inc. He was a member of Charity Masonic Lodge 134, A.F. & A.M., Piney Branch Country Club and Butler Volunteer Fire Company. He was an original member and board member of the Associated Builders and Contractors in Baltimore and a member and past president of Baltimore County Highway Contractors Association. He was also a member of the Maryland Asphalt Association, Maryland Highway Contractors, the Association of Utility Contractors and the Home Builders Association of Maryland. He served on the board of Sparks Bank. He was a member of Falls Road United Methodist Church and served on the church board. He enjoyed golfing, hunting and fishing. Surviving, in addition to his wife, are his daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Bob Webbert of Sparks; grandsons, David Stockbridge and his wife Kesha of Denver, CO and Joel Stockbridge and his wife Allison of Sparks; granddaughter, Katherine McInnes and her husband William of Sparks; great-granddaughter, Brooke Stockbridge; great-grandson, Ryan Stockbridge; brother, William Calvin Palmer of Parkton and sister, Eva Lee of Dillon, Mont. The family will receive friends Tuesday and Wednesday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Eline Funeral Home, 934 South Main Street, Hampstead. A memorial service will be held 11:30 a.m. Thursday at the Maryland Masonic Home, 300 International Circle, Cockeysville with Rev. Scott Shumaker officiating. Private interment will be in Falls Road United Methodist Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Gilchrist Hospice Care, 11311 McCormick Rd., Suite 350, Hunt Valley, MD 21031 or Falls Road United Methodist Church, 15335 Falls Rd., Sparks, MD 21152.
