Georgia Virginia Howes, of Clearwater, FL, formerly of Sykesville, passed away on Tuesday, December 20, 2016, at Carroll Hospital, Westminster. Born September 28, 1933, in Bakersville, NC she was the daughter of the late Clingman Ledford and Lillian Street Ledford. She was the loving wife of the late Irvin P. Howes who died May 1, 2016. Georgia retired from Springfield Hospital Center, Sykesville as an LPN. She also worked for the former Sykesville Eldercare Center. She and her late husband Irvin retired to Clearwater, FL 18 years ago where she had been a member of the Red Hat Society and Sun Coast Neighbors. She enjoyed going to the movies, traveling and most importantly spending time with her family and friends and attending their 4H and sports events. She is survived by daughters and sons-in-law; Sabra and Dave Fogle of New Windsor and Deborah and Cleatus Kibler of Finksburg; sister, Lila Hughes of Houston, TX; grandchildren, Jessica Fogle, Brett Fogle and Candace Meil and great-grandchildren, Taylor, Cole, Jake and Cody. She was predeceased by siblings, Buster Ledford and Bonnie Forbes. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, December 28, 2016 at 2 PM at Haight Funeral Home & Chapel, 6416 Sykesville Road, Sykesville. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make memorial donations to the , 1393 Progress Way, Eldersburg, MD 21784.
