Gerald A. Monroe, 73, of Sykesville, died Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2014, at Season Hospice at Northwest Hospital Center in Randallstown.

Born March 15, 1940, in Brooklyn, Md., he was the son of the late William E. Monroe and the late Eugenia E. Boncek Monroe. He was the husband of Charlotte R. Shackelford Monroe, his wife of 52 years.

He was a retired graphic designer/photographer for Westinghouse and a six year Navy veteran.

He was a fan of the Baltimore Ravens, the Baltimore Orioles and the Maryland Terps. He was a member of the American Legion Sykesville Post No. 223.

Surviving are children Lisa Monroe Passarello and husband Tim, of Sykesville, and Gary E. Monroe and wife Michelle, of Boring; a brother, David Michael Monroe, of California; and grandchildren Allie, Nicholas, Patrick and Timmy Passarello and Austin Monroe.

Services are private.
