Geraldine "Gerry" Elizabeth Maggio, 92, of Union Bridge, passed away on Wednesday, October 18, 2017 at St. Joseph's Ministries Nursing Home in Emmitsburg. Gerry was born on December 24, 1924 in Martinsburg, West Virginia and was the daughter of the late Raymond and Margaret Pearl Barr. For 71 years, she was the beloved wife of Vincent Maggio, Sr., who predeceased her in 2015. Gerry retired as a nursing assistant from Northwest Hospital. She was a member of St. John Catholic Church. Surviving her are children Sr. Barbara Maggio of Emmitsburg, Vincent Maggio and his wife Debbie of Ellicott City, Paul Maggio and his wife Bea of Union Bridge, and Joanne Matthews and her husband Phillip of Finksburg. She is also survived by 6 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her daughter Gloria Maggio Little. Gerry was an avid Oriole fan. She bowled on a weekly league until she was 86. She volunteered weekly with her husband at Carroll Lutheran Village. She always enjoyed doing for others, particularly baking, making afghans and writing cards. The family will receive friends on Monday, October 23, 2017 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 Pritts Funeral Home and Chapel, 412 Washington Rd., Westminster. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, October 24, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. at St. John Catholic Church, 43 Monroe St., Westminster. Interment will follow in Lakeview Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to: , 1850 York Road, Suite D, Timonium, MD 21093.
