Gerard "Jerry" Hough, 71, of New Windsor, MD, died on Sunday, October 22, 2017. Born November 12, 1945, in New York, NY, he was the son of the late Joseph Hough and Ann (Sullivan) Hough. He graduated from New York's Xavier High School in 1962. On August 19, 1967, he married Noel "Noelly" Cover of Bronxville, NY. They lived in New York's West Village before moving to Hartsdale, NY, to raise their son Rodney Cover Hough. Jerry worked at several famous New York restaurants, including the Buffalo Roadhouse, before beginning a home contracting business in Hartsdale in the 1980s. He and Noel had a deep and varied appreciation for literature, music, and fine dining. On any given day you could walk into their home and find them listening to arias by Puccini, followed by The Rolling Stones, while enjoying oysters and foie gras. Jerry shared a very special bond with his oldest granddaughter, Eleanor; he spent time reading her books and telling jokes. Jerry is survived by his son Rodney Cover Hough and his wife Louise (Peneguy) of Mountainside, NJ, and their daughters, Eleanor Noel Hough and Adair Allen Hough; his sister Rosemarie Mahoney of Lake Ariel, PA, and his brother-in-law Robert Stitely Cover of New Windsor. His beloved wife of 50 years, Noel Hough, followed him shortly in death on February 4, 2018. A special thank you to Carroll Hospice and the Dove House for their loving care and support during the last few months of his life. We also would like to thank Pritts Funeral Home for all of the arrangements. Although they lived on the Stitely family farm in New Windsor in recent years, Jerry and Noel remained loyal to their roots in New York where they both lived for over 50 years. A joint memorial service will be held in the spring at Christ Church Bronxville. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Carroll Hospice, 292 Stoner Ave, Westminster, MD 21157.
