Gilbert Arthur Reitz, Sr., 88, of Westminster, passed away on Thursday, January 21, 2016 at Carroll Hospice Dove House. Born on August 18, 1927 in Baltimore, he was the son of the late Mabel Frances Dillinger Reitz and the late Joseph Bernard Reitz, Sr. He was the husband of Mary Isabelle Motter Reitz, his wife of 57 years. Gilbert was an Insurance Agent with Washington National Insurance Company where he worked for 30 plus years until his retirement. After he retired, he worked part time as a delivery driver for Westminster Motors and also as a driver with CATS. Gilbert was also a member of Grace Lutheran Church, an avid golfer, and avid reader. Surviving in addition to his wife are sons and daughters-in-law Gilbert A. Reitz, Jr. of Westminster, Gary and Esther Reitz of Antioch, CA, and Gregory and Kathleen Reitz of Chambersburg, PA and grandchildren Nicholas J. Reitz, Dustin A. Reitz, Jared Stambaugh, Alex Stambaugh, and Kara Stambaugh. He was predeceased by siblings Mae Morningstar, Mabel May, and Joseph B. Reitz, Jr. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 27 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Pritts Funeral Home and Chapel, 412 Washington Rd., Westminster. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 28 at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Martha Clementson officiating. Interment will be in Evergreen Memorial Gardens, Finksburg. Memorial contributions may be made in his name to Carroll Hospice Dove House, 292 Stoner Ave., Westminster, MD 21157.
