Gilbert Paul Scriba, Sr., 78, of Westminster, passed away on Tuesday, May 30, 2017 at Carroll Hospital Center. Born on November 21, 1938 in Baltimore, he was the son of the late Edward Phillip Scriba and Lillie May Kessler Scriba. Gilbert was the husband of Deborah Ann Scriba, his wife of 38 years. Gilbert was a veteran of the United States Army. He then worked for and retired from Bethlehem Steel in June 2001 where he was a Blacksmith for 17 years and later a Crane Operator. He loved fishing and enjoyed shooting darts, playing in several dart leagues. Surviving Gilbert in addition to his wife are son Gilbert Paul Scriba, Jr. of York, PA; sister Bertha Scriba of Rhodesdale, MD; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by sisters Shirley Cruse and Linda Ross. The family will receive friends on Sunday, June 4 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Pritts Funeral Home and Chapel, 412 Washington Rd., Westminster. Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 5 at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be private at Mount St. Mary's University Cemetery, Emmittsburg In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Gilbert's name to the American Kidney Fund, 6110 Executive Blvd., Suite 1010, Rockville, MD 20852 or to the Maryland SPCA at www.mdspca.org/give.
