Gina Maria Barnes, 39, of Westminster, died Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2013 at Carroll Hospital Center in Westminster.

Born July 1, 1974, in Baltimore, she was the daughter of Michael and Linda DeBaufre Dearing, of Ocean Pines. She was the wife of Erik Barnes, whom she married Aug. 9, 1997.

She worked in sales and marketing at the Sheraton Inner Harbor beginning in 1997. She was a 1996 graduate of James Madison University, earning her bachelor's degree in history and communication. She was a member of St. John Catholic Church.

She was outgoing, easily making friends. She played field hockey and lacrosse in college and moved onto coaching and refereeing those sports in Carroll County. She was very active in Westminster Area Lacrosse (WAX), where she served as assistant co-coordinator. She enjoyed decorating her home, where she loved entertaining guests. She enjoyed boating, going to the beach and especially spending time with her family and many friends.

Surviving, in addition to her parents and husband, are children Alexander E., Sophia M. and Jacob A. Barnes, of Westminster; brother and sister-in-law Anthony and Cindy Christiani, of Westminster; nieces Josie and Julia Christiani, of Westminster; father-in-law and mother-in-law Ronald and Judy Barnes, of Hampstead; a brother-in-law, Troy Barnes, of Glyndon; a sister-in-law, Shari Serafin, of Hampstead; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

The family will receive friends from noon to 2 and 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at Pritts Funeral Home & Chapel, 412 Washington Road, Westminster.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. John Catholic Church, 43 Monroe St., Westminster, with the Rev. John Lesnick officiating. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to a fund for the education of her children, C/O Tony Christiani, 916 Fowler Road, Westminster, MD 21157.
