Gladys B. Conaway, age 89 of Westminster, and formerly of Sykesville, died Thursday, April 27, 2017 at Carroll Lutheran Village in Westminster. Born August 21, 1927 in Hampstead, she was the daughter of the late Claude E. and LaRue Davidson Bossom. She was the wife of the late Donald C. Conaway. Gladys was a 1944 graduate of Sykesville High School and also a graduate of Baltimore Business College. She retired as a secretary with the State of Maryland after 30 years of service. She ran F & G Flower Shop from her home for many years. She was a lifelong member of Brandenburg United Methodist Church where she held many positions and hosted many bus trips for the Brandenburg Gadabouts. Surviving are son and daughter-in-law Donald C. and Dale Conaway of Sykesville, sister and brother-in-law Jeannette and Norman Hughes of Westminster, grandson Luke Conaway of Sykesville, nephews Steven Shaughney of Westminster, and Michael Shaughney and his wife Aurelia of Gainesville, VA and sister-in-law Madeline B. Sipe of Westminster. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 2, 2017 from 2-4pm and 6-8pm at Haight Funeral Home & Chapel, 6416 Sykesville Rd., Sykesville. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 3, 2017 at 11:00 am at the funeral home with Rev. John Bragg officiating. Interment in Evergreen Memorial Gardens in Finksburg. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Brandenburg United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 1233, Sykesville, MD 21784 or to Carroll Lutheran Village Resident's Assistance Fund, 300 St. Luke Circle, Westminster, MD 21158.
