Gladys Harlow Rhoten passed away on September 9, 2015 at the age of 89. Gladys was born in South Shields, England to Gladys and John Sharp. Gladys was a WWII "War Bride". Gladys met Walter "Mike" Rhoten while he was stationed in England during the war. The two soon married, moved back to the states and made a life for themselves in Hampstead, MD. Gladys is remembered as a strong willed woman, a much sought after Bridge partner, and a member of the Hampstead Lioness Club. Gladys attended St. John's Methodist Church. Gladys worked as an administrative assistant for BG&E until her retirement. Gladys is survived by her husband of 69 years, Walter "Mike" Rhoten; daughter, Terry Schauer; grandchildren, Jennifer (Steve) Riskus, and Justin Michael Schauer. She is predeceased by her parents, and brother, John Sharp. A visitation will be held on Monday, September 14th from 10:00am to 1:00pm at Eline Funeral Home in Hampstead, followed by a celebration of life at 1:00pm. Interment will take place at Hampstead Cemetery. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Gladys' life.
