Gloria Amelia (Smith) Brown, 87, of Westminster, formerly of Reisterstown, passed away on Monday, May 23, 2016 at Brookdale of Westminster. Born August, 18, 1928, in Baltimore, she was the daughter of the late Wade and Anna (Buchacz) Church. Twice married, she was the wife of the late Charles E. Smith who passed away in 1983 and the late Francis J. Brown who passed away in 2010. Gloria was a long-time employee of the Bell Atlantic Telephone Company where she worked as Chief Operator and retired in 1985. She was a life member of the V.F.W. Molleville-Farm Post 467 and American Legion Post 31 Ladies Auxiliaries, St. John Catholic Church and a former member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She was an avid bowler and enjoyed volunteering for many years for V.F.W. and American Legion programs. Surviving are sons Charles E. Smith, III (Cindy) of Westminster and Bryan D. Smith, Sr. (Linda) of Reisterstown; grandchildren Charles E. Smith, IV (Heather) of Hanover, PA, Bryan D. Smith, Jr. (Stephanie) of Baltimore, and Ashley Smith Zhu (Jiakai) of Millersville; great-grandchildren Rachel, Mariah, Charleigh and Dean Smith and Baby Boy Zhu to be born in September. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 12:00 pm at Pritts Funeral Home & Chapel, 412 Washington Rd., Westminster, where the family will receive friends from 10:00 am until the start of the service. Officiating will be Monsignor Lloyd Aiken of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Interment will follow in Lake View Memorial Park, Sykesville. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the V.F.W. Molleville-Farm Post 467, 519 Poole Rd., Westminster, MD 21157.

It was my pleasure to take care of ms Gloria at Brookdale. Every time I saw her I'd call her beautiful grandma and she'd have a smile a hug and a kiss on the cheek for me. Rest in peace beautiful grandma you will be missed.
