Gloria Esther-Ruth Eser, 86, of Bonita Springs, Fla. and New Windsor, died unexpectedly Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2013, at Carroll Hospital Center.

Born Sept. 15, 1926, in Baltimore, she was the daughter of the late George Washington Barranger and Johannette Louise Messersmith Barranger. She was the wife of Milton J. Eser Sr., who she married in 1945.

She and her husband met on Love Point, Kent Island in 1942, and they celebrated their 68th anniversary on Jan. 31. She was a member of St. James Lutheran Church in Union Bridge. She enjoyed spending time at the beach, playing cards, knitting and reading.

Surviving, in addition to her husband, are daughters and sons-in-law Anne L. and Ken Wright, of Westminster, and Pamela G. and Mike Fink, of New Windsor; son and daughter-in-law Milton J. Jr. and Margaret Eser, of Hanover, Pa.; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; a sister, Joanne Fales, of Leawood, Kan.; a brother, George H. Barranger, of Baltimore; a sister-in-law, Rosemary Hill, of Salisbury; brother-in-law Thomas M. Eser and wife Henrietta, of Racine, Wis.; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by a sister, Nancy L. Strott; sisters-in-law Bessie F. Barranger and Esther Scott; and brothers-in-law John T. Fales and John Charles Strott.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Hartzler Funeral Home, 310 Church St., New Windsor.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at St. James Lutheran Church, 14 S. Benedum St., Union Bridge, with her pastor, the Rev. Richard L. Michael officiating. Interment will be in St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery in Upperco.
