Gordon William Blount, 87, of Westminster, died Saturday, October 8, 2016, at the Dove House. Born December 29, 1928 in Hamilton, Ohio, he was the son of the late Hilda A. Pieper and David Riley Blount. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Carolyn A. Blount. Before retiring he worked 26 years as a technician for the American Totalisator Co. He served in the Army and was a member of the VFW Molleville Farm Post No. 467, American Legion Carroll Post No. 31 and former member of Wakefield Valley. In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Mary and Junior Mar of Lincoln, NE, grandchildren Matthew, Tiffany, Ryan, Tyley, Amber, Kaylie and Jade, a nephew Steven Blount and 18 great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends on Thursday, October 13, 2016, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Fletcher Funeral & Cremation Services, 254 E. Main St., Westminster. Memorial services will be held at 7:30 p.m. Interment will be private. Memorial contributions may be made to Carroll Hospice, 292 Stoner Ave., Westminster, MD 21157 or the Humane Society of Carroll County, 2517 Littlestown Pike, Westminster, MD 21158.
