Gwenda Marie "Wendy" Meadows Barnes, 64, of Taneytown, died Thursday, Sept. 12, 2013, at home after a long battle with pancreatic cancer.

Born Aug. 6, 1949, in Baltimore, she was the daughter of Betty Gamber King, of Taneytown and Melvin Meadows and spouse Reba, of Westminster. She was the wife of Albert "Pete" E. Barnes Jr., her husband of 28 years.

She was a school bus driver for Carroll County Public Schools. She enjoyed going to the casino, camping, gardening, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Surviving, in addition to her parents and husband, are daughters and sons-in-law Dana and Tim Eusini, and Angela and Bill Bray, all of Westminster; a step-son, Stephen Barnes, of Hanover, Pa.; a brother, George Meadows, of Michigan; sisters and brothers-in-law Deborah and Larry Hunt, of Manassas, Va., Gail and David Beall, of Taneytown, and Donna and Randy Williams, of Baltimore; half-sisters and spouses Debbie and Jason Scott, of Littlestown, Pa., Lynn and Lee Mallick, of Westminster, and Melany and David LaRochelle, of Gettysburg, Pa.; grandchildren Adriana, Gabriella, Timothy, and Sarah Eusini, and Georgia and Liam Bray; first husband Blaine Shifflett; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by a son, Blaine Shifflett Jr.; and a sister-in-law, Chris Meadows.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Pritts Funeral Home and Chapel, 412 Washington Road, Westminster.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home with Deacon Charles Barnhart officiating and the Rev. Garry Sheaffer co-officiating. Interment will be in St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery in Uniontown.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the Community Foundation of Carroll County, Gwenda Barnes Fund, 255 Clifton Blvd., Westminster, MD 21157.
