Harold Eyler Mercer, 79 of Woodbine, died Tuesday, November 18, 2014 at Carroll Hospital Center in Westminster. Born July 14, 1935 in Gaither, he was the son of the late Robert Mercer Jr. and the late Eunice Cass Mercer. He was the husband of Esther Rash Mercer of Woodbine, his wife of nearly 60 years. He had been a farmer all of his life and after retirement worked for Giant Foods in Westminster. Surviving in addition to his wife are sons and daughters-in-law Alan "Casey" and Kim Mercer, and Eric and Michele Ann Mercer, all of Woodbine, daughter Laura Mercer of Woodbine, brother Richard Mercer of Hagerstown, sisters Grace Mercer and Nessa Klein, both of Westminster, and grandchildren Brent, Alice, Shelby, and Dustin Mercer, Stefany and Zach Zile, and Cory and Kyle Tye. He was predeceased by his son Mark Eyler Mercer, and by his granddaughter Taylor Morgan Mercer, and by his brothers Robert Mercer III, Edwin Mercer, David Mercer and Christopher Mercer. The family will receive friends at the Haight Funeral Home & Chapel, 6416 Sykesville Road, Sykesville on Sunday from 2-4pm and 6-8pm. Funeral services will be held on Monday at 10am at St. Barnabas Episcopal Church, 13125 Forsythe Rd., Sykesville. Interment in Highland View Cemetery at Messiah Lutheran Church in Sykesville. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Barnabas Episcopal Church Hall Fund, 13125 Forsythe Rd., Sykesville, MD 21784. Online condolences may be offered at www.haightfuneralhome.com
