Harold Joseph Sanders, 91, of Westminster, died Thursday, July 12, 2012, at Hanover Hospital.

Born Sept. 19, 1920, in Bonneauville, Pa., he was the son of the late Guy David and Cora Virginia Kebil Sanders. He was the husband of Alma B. Crites Sanders, his wife of 68 years.

He was an Army veteran, serving in World War II, and was on the construction crew of the great Alaska Highway as a lineman in Alaska and the Yukon from 1943 until 1944. He was self-employed as a poultry farmer.

He was a member of St. Bartholomew's Roman Catholic Church in Manchester.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are sons Harold J. "Sandy" Sanders Jr. and wife Debra, of Westminster, and Thomas R. Sanders and wife Hope Elizabeth, of Hanover, Pa.; a brother, Donald B. Sanders, of Glen Rock, Pa.; grandchildren Christy Smith, Layle LaFever, Rachel Dutterer and Jennifer Stewart; 11 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandson.

He was predeceased by sisters Emma Mae Wagner, Madeline Reaver, Mary Agnes, Mary Elizabeth Sanders, Myrtle H. Johns and Doris M. Smith; and brothers Paul G., Eugene D., Henry J., Richard H. and Wilbur F. Sanders.

Friends may call from 10 a.m. until the time of funeral liturgy, 11 a.m. Tuesday at Wetzel Funeral Home & Crematory, 549 Carlisle St., Hanover, Pa., with Deacon Dan Richards of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hanover officiating. Interment will be in St. David's Cemetery in Hanover.
