Harry Edward Buffington Jr., age 83, of Union Bridge, died Saturday, March 24, 2018 at Carroll Hospice Dove House after a brief illness. Born July 24, 1934 in Union Bridge, he was the son of the late Harry E. Sr. and Bessie Marie Martin Buffington. He was the husband of Betty Louise Eyler Buffington who died in 2012. Harry served in the U.S. Army with Co. C of the 4th Engineer Battalion Infantry Division. He was employed in farming, then his own construction business and from 1980-84 he operated the restaurant "Airport 109" of Frederick. He later worked with B.C.S. utility business and retired from Strohecker Inc. of Crofton and Stambaugh's Inc. of Union Bridge. Following retirement he and his wife owned and operated B & B Monogramming. Harry was a member of the Taneytown Lions Club, Westminster Moose and Elks, Littlestown Eagles, V.F.W. of Union Bridge and Mt. Union Lutheran Church. He enjoyed Orioles baseball, Ravens football, gardening, traveling, horse races and spending time with his family. Surviving are daughters, Betsy Funkhouser and husband Glenn "Mel" of Taneytown; Cheryl Maring and husband Ron of Union Bridge; 4 grandchildren, Bryne Taff, Holly Hess and husband Mikel, Joshua Funkhouser and wife Amber and Casey Funkhouser and 5 great grandchildren, Emma, Makayla, Juliana, Brantley and Lilly. He was predeceased by infant twin sons, Harry E. III and Barry Lewis Buffington and a brother, Charles Buffington. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 28, at Hartzler Funeral Home, 6 E. Broadway, Union Bridge, with his pastor, Rev. Cary Moorman, officiating. Military interment will follow in Mt. Union Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, March 27. Memorial contributions may be made to Mt.
