Harry Ellsworth Franklin, 77, of Taylorsville, died Saturday, Oct. 13, 2012, at his home.

Born Jan. 31, 1935, in Taylorsville, he was the son of the late Naomi Louise Koontz Franklin and the late Olin F. Franklin. He was the husband of Margaret Louise Conaway Franklin, his wife of 56 years.

He was a builder for more than 30 years. He was president of Ideal Homes, Inc. and the owner of Ridge Cabinet Company. He enjoyed spending time on his farms, sightseeing and woodworking. He was a member of Westminster Elks and Moose and Farm Bureau. He was in the Army Reserves.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are children Karen Franklin, of Taylorsville; Mark Franklin and daughter-in-law Tammy Franklin, of Taylorsville; and Kevin Franklin and daughter-in-law Rebecca Franklin, of Winfield; grandchildren Kyle Franklin, Amy Franklin and Caitlyn Crawford; step-grandchildren Adam Granic, Christopher Tetlow and wife Colby, Jessica Morataya and husband Will; step-great-grandchildren Blake, Ryan and Evan Morataya and Madelyn Tetlow, Evie and Riley Karstens.

He was predeceased by siblings Frances Buckingham and William Franklin and sister-in-law Julia Franklin.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Burrier-Queen Funeral Home & Crematory, PA, 1212 W. Old Liberty Road, Winfield.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with the Rev. O.F. "Bud" Kibbe officiating. Interment will be held at Taylorsville U.M. Church Cemetery in Taylorsville.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be sent to Winfield Community Volunteer Fire Department, 1320 W. Old Liberty Road, Sykesville, MD 21784.
