Harry Eugene Jones, 80, of Westminster, and formerly of Elizabeth City, NC, passed away on Monday, May 22, 2017 at Carroll Hospice Dove House. He was born on July 6, 1936 in Scotland Neck, North Carolina and was the son of the late Harry Lee (Casey) and Frances Bishop Jones. He was the beloved husband of 60 years to Nancy Lee (Brehm) Jones, whom he married on September 16, 1956. Harry graduated from Elizabeth City High school in 1955. He was a veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard and served aboard the USCG Cutter Ingham Flagship; a retired Naval vessel brought out of mothballs for service with the Coast Guard to patrol the Atlantic and perform rescues if needed. Harry retired from the State of Maryland where he worked as a property officer for 17 years. He also was employed for Weis Markets. Harry enjoyed gardening and refinishing furniture. He was a member of St. John's (Leisters) Lutheran Church, where he served on the church council and various committees including advisor for the youth group. Surviving, in addition to his wife, are son and daughter-in-law Kevin Eugene and Lisa Diane (Krom) Jones; daughter and son-in-law Deborah Lee and Robert Braman; grandchildren Tiffany Lyn Filemyr and spouse Frank, Stephanie Nicole Jones, Nicholas Ryan Jones; great- grandchildren Aubrey Leigh and Thomas Andrew Filemyr; step great- grandchildren Sara Michele and Emma Wynn Filemyr. He was predeceased by his grandson Jacob Casey Jones. The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 25, 2017 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm at Pritts Funeral Home and Chapel, 412 Washington Rd., Westminster. Funeral service will be held on Friday, May 26th at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with his pastor Kristin Dubsky officiating along with military honors. After the service, Harry will be cremated and his ashes will be interred in St. Johns (Leisters) Church Cemetery at the convenience of the family. A reception will be held at the church following the funeral service. Memorial contributions may be made in Harry's name to St. John's Leisters Lutheran Church, 827 Leister's Church Rd., Westminster MD 21157.
