The Rev. Harry Lee Hoffman, III, 87, of Sykesville, Maryland died Friday, August 1, 2014. Born July 13, 1927 in Baltimore, Maryland, he was the son of the late Harry Lee Hoffman, Jr. and Charlotte Feast Hoffman. His sister, Charlotte Hoffman Wheeler, predeceased him. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Mary Louisa Primrose Hoffman, his sister, Martha Hoffman Stegner, his children, Alice Middleton, William "Bill" Hoffman, and Charlotte Van Duser, four grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. He was a graduate of Friends School of Baltimore, Johns Hopkins University, and Virginia Theological Seminary. He spent most of his adult years serving as an Episcopal priest in Relay, Maryland (St. John's), in Powell and Lovell, Wyoming, in Richmond, Virginia (St. Matthew's), in Purcellville, Virginia (St. Peter's), and in Ellicott City, Maryland (St. John's). He enjoyed music, photography, writing, golf, stamp collecting, and watching the Baltimore Orioles. Most importantly, he felt called to help people during their times of crisis and tried to practice what he preached by giving of his time, talent and treasure.
