Harry W. Thomas, 85, of Sparks, died Wednesday, May 30, 2012, at Carroll Hospital Center in Westminster.

Born Nov. 26, 1926, in Freeland, he was the son of the late Harry N. and Dorothy "Toots" Wirtz Thomas. He was the husband of the late Ethel E. Thomas.

He retired in 1983 from Baltimore Gas and Electric in Westminster, after 36 years of service.

He was a member of the former Hereford Assembly of God in Parkton. He was a historic car enthusiast, enjoyed motorcycles and attending the car shows in Carlisle, Pa., every year. In his earlier years, he enjoyed fishing and hunting. He was known to be sociable.

Surviving are children Michael L. Thomas and wife Ann, of Westminster, Bruce E. Thomas and wife Barbara, of Hampstead, Harry L. Thomas, of Florida, and Linda L. Frysinger and husband Mike, of Felton; a brother, Robert N. Thomas; a sister-in-law, Sylvia Thomas; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by a brother, William "Billy" Thomas.

Friends may call from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at J.J. Hartenstein Mortuary, 24 N. Second St., New Freedom, Pa.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the mortuary, with the Rev. Mark E. Fair officiating. Interment will be in Cedar Grove United Methodist Cemetery in Parkton.
