Hazel May "Miss Hazel" Esworthy, 94, of Lisbon, died Friday, March 29, 2013, at Lorien of Mount Airy.

Born July 19, 1918, in Woodbine, she was the daughter of the late Lee L. Condon and the late Bessie Barth Condon.

She retired from Howard County Food Program at Lisbon Elementary School after 32 years. She was a charter member of Lisbon Fire Co. Ladies Auxiliary for more than 62 years. She was also the treasurer of the auxiliary, treasurer of the Ladies Auxiliary to Howard County Fires Association and a member of Lisbon United Methodist Church.

She enjoyed playing bingo and participating in activities at Lorien.

Surviving are siblings Eddy Condon and wife Jeanne, of Woodbine, Robert Condon and wife Noralee, of Berkley Springs, W.Va., Martha Harrison, of Mount Airy, and Betty Duvall, of Woodbine; sister-in-law Betty Condon, of Westminster; grandchildren Tom and Fran Esworthy, of Lisbon, and Joyce and Ken Kubu, of Damascus; and numerous nieces, nephews and other grandchildren.

She was predeceased by husband Robert Esworthy Sr.; son Robert Lee Esworthy Jr.; and siblings Harvey and Eugene Condon, Lorraine Clary and Evelyn Fleming.

The family receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Lisbon United Methodist Church, 15875 Frederick Road, Lisbon.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church. Interment will be held in Morgan Chapel Cemetery in Woodbine.

Memorial contributions may be sent to Lisbon volunteer fire company C/O New Building Fund PO Box 40, Lisbon, MD 21765.
