Helen Grace Lawson, 80, of Hampstead, died Friday, May 10, 2013, while on a cruise.

Born Sept. 12, 1932, in Hampstead, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Mary E. Merryman Cole. She was the wife of George William Lawson, who died in 2006.

She was a member of Hampstead Volunteer Fire Company Auxiliary and Grace United Methodist Church. She was a homemaker, an avid bowler and knitter, and enjoyed cooking for family and friends. She was known for her outgoing personality and generosity.

Surviving are sons George T. Lawson and wife Bonnie, and Robert D. Lawson and fiancee Doris Keck, all of Hampstead; grandsons Neil Lawson and wife Lisa, Jeffrey Lawson, Jonathan Lawson and Matthew Lawson; and friends Kim, Derek and Kyle Eckhardt, and Betty Winner.

The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Eline Funeral Home, 934 S. Main St., Hampstead.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with her pastor, the Rev. Dr. Melissa Rudolph, officiating. Interment will be in Grace United Methodist Cemetery.
