Helen Pittinger Garber, age 92, of Union Bridge, died Saturday, February 18, 2017 at Longview Nursing Home, Manchester. Born February 17, 1925 in Union Bridge, she was the daughter of the late Frank William and Etta Mae Logue Pittinger. She was the wife of James Allen Garber who died in 1995. Helen was a 1943 graduate of Elmer Wolfe High School, Union Bridge. She worked as a home health aide and also delivered the Baltimore Sun and News-American for many years. She enjoyed quilting, cooking and collecting, especially dolls. Surviving are a son, James F. McKinney and wife Etta, near Union Bridge; nephew, Kevin Grabill and wife Jennie of New Windsor and great nephews, Will and Robbie Grabill. She was predeceased by a son, Larry E. McKinney; granddaughter, Laura Harver and sister, Thelma J. Grabill. Friends may call at Hartzler Funeral Home, 6 E. Broadway, Union Bridge, from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, February 21, followed by an interment service at 11:30 a.m. at Pipe Creek Cemetery, near Linwood. Officiating will be Rev. Richard L. Michael, pastor of St. James Lutheran Church, Union Bridge. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center, 22 S. Green St., Baltimore, MD 21201-1595 or to the Union Bridge Church of the Brethren Fellowship, P.O.
