Helen Louise Shipley Fillion, 98 of Riverton WY, died on Tuesday March 31, 2015 at the Popular Living Center in Casper WY. There will be no services held in Wyoming. She will be inurned in Maryland at the family plot at a later date. Helen Louise Shipley was born on July 26, 1916 in Westminster, MD to Paul and Laura Marea Royer Shipley. She grew up in Westminster and attended schools there. She received both her bachelor and master degrees from McDaniel College in Westminster, MD. She married Paul Fillion on May 26, 1943 in Westminster, MD. They had one daughter, Ann. She taught for Carroll County Public Schools for over 30 years. She was of the Christian faith, Methodist denomination. She served as the Church Librarian for the Riverton United Methodist Church and was also a member of the United Methodist Women. She volunteered at the Riverton Public Library, Central Wyoming College Library, and Carroll County Public Library, Carroll County Farm Museum and was a member of the Daughters of American Revolution. She enjoyed reading, repairing books, traveling and learning local history. She is survived by her daughter, Ann Hicks and her husband, Roger of Riverton, WY; her brother, Daniel Shipley of Westminster, MD; her sister, Alice Mildred Shipley of Westminster, MD; and her two grandchildren and three great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Paul R. Shipley and his wife Mary Ann Smith Shipley. Memorials may be sent to Westminster United Methodist Church or Carroll County Farm Museum. Interment to be scheduled at later date.
