Herman Leon Thompson, 78, of Woodbine, died Tuesday, May 22, 2012, at Howard County General Hospital in Columbia.

Born Jan. 22, 1934, in Frederick County, he was the son of the late Victor and Luella Miller Thompson. He was the husband and caregiver of Anna Mary "Patsy" Feaga Thompson.

He had been a plumber for most of his life. He enjoyed working in his garden, and when able, he liked to hunt and fish. He was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church in Poplar Springs.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are sons and daughters-in-law H. Lee and Lisa M. Thompson, of Eldersburg, and B. Wayne and Brenda L. Thompson, of Baker, W.Va.; daughter and son-in-law Kelly and Phillip E. Bowie, of Catonsville; a brother, Robert Thompson; sisters Betty Plunkard, Ebbie Curtain, and Gloria Ecker; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by siblings Harold David Thompson, Nannie Main, Jack Thompson, Rose Seal, Paul Thompson and Donald Thompson.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today at Haight Funeral Home & Chapel, 6416 Sykesville Road, Sykesville.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Michael Ruane officiating. Interment will be in Crest Lawn Memorial Gardens in Marriottsville.
