Hollis A. Pickett, 99, of Mount Airy, died Friday, May 31, 2013, at her home.

Born Aug. 10, 1913, in Mount Olive, she was the daughter of the late Upton Lewis Henry and the late Effie Lee Fleming Henry. She was the wife of the late Harry Dewitt Pickett.

She was a seamstress at the Mount Airy sewing factory. She was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church. She enjoyed gardening vegetables.

Surviving are daughters Elinor and husband J. Wilfred Runkles, of Monrovia, and Lilymae Pope, of Mount Airy; grandchildren Lynn Overby, of Lucama, N.C., Dale Runkles, of Mount Airy, Melinda Knott, of Monrovia, Jeffrey Pope, of Hampstead, Randy Pope, of Walkersville, and Sandra Holsinger, of Mount Airy; and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by brother Roscoe Henry and sister Carlene Henry and Gertrude Henry.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Burrier-Queen Funeral Home & Crematory, 1212 W. Old Liberty Road, Sykesville.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Michael Ruane of St. Michael's Catholic Church officiating. Interment will be held at Ebenezer United Methodist Church Cemetery in Sykesville.
