Howard Francis Baker, 87, of Union Bridge, died Sunday, Sept. 2, 2012, at Golden Living Center in Westminster.
Born Sept. 17, 1924, in New Oxford, Pa., he was the son of the late Roy George Baker and Emma Riley Baker. He was the husband of Elizabeth Jane Gonder Baker, his wife of 66 years.
He was employed as a feed mill worker in Linwood for 20 years and retired in 1986 from Cargill in Walkersville after a total of 40 years of service. He also farmed in Carroll County and restored tractors with his sons.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are sons Francis Howard Baker and wife Donna, of Union Bridge, and Gary Michael Baker and wife Linda, of Westminster; grandchildren Wendy F. Baker, Jennifer Naill, M. Scott Baker and Kelsey Lynn Baker; great-granddaughters Darian and Cadence Naill; a sister, Mae Colburn, of Baltimore; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by sisters Catherine Ranoull and Mabel Baker; and brothers David, Raymond and John Baker.
There will be no public visitation at the funeral home.
A private graveside service will be held at Meadow Branch Cemetery in Westminster, at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the Union Bridge Volunteer Fire Co. Ambulance Fund, P.O. Box 1050, Union Bridge, MD 21791.
