Howard Franklin "Buck" Simmons Jr., 60, of Manchester, died unexpectedly Sunday, May 4, 2014, at home.

Born Nov. 2, 1953, in Baltimore, he was the son of Howard Franklin Simmons Sr., of Warrenton, Virginia, and the late Ruth DePew Simmons. He was the husband of Pamela A. Miller Simmons, his wife of 17 years.

Prior to his recent retirement, he had worked as a master auto mechanic for 30 years in Westminster and Hanover, Pennsylvania.

He was a member of St. Benjamin's Lutheran Church in Westminster and Lebonon Lodge, A. F. & A. M. of Manchester. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed boating.

Surviving, in addition to his father and wife, are children Angela Ann Simmons, of Manchester, Robert Wade Simmons, of Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, and Patricia Winters, of Hampstead; grandchildren Lisa, Tredyn and Gage; sister and brother-in-law Dawn and Jay Dotson, of Sandy Hook, Virginia; and a stepmother, E. Maxine Simmons, of Warrenton.

The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Eline Funeral Home, 934 S. Main St., Hampstead, where Masonic rites will be offered at 7:30 p.m. Thursday.

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. David Schafer officiating. Inurnment will be in Miller's United Methodist Cemetery in Millers.
