Howard Franklin Stansbury, 86, a resident of Homewood at Crumland Farms in Frederick, formerly of near Creagerstown, died Tuesday, July 10, 2012, at Homewood.

Born May 21, 1926, in Carroll County, he was the son of the late William and Hannah Elizabeth Wilson Stansbury. He was the husband of Mary Elizabeth Wolfe Stansbury, who died in 2002.

He was formerly employed for 35 years with Southern States Co-op and following retirement he enjoyed woodworking. He was a member of Lewistown United Methodist Church.

Surviving are son Gerald W. Stansbury and wife Pamela, of Frederick; a granddaughter, Erin Stansbury, of Frederick, and fiance Mark Wiles; a brother, Grover Stansbury, of Keymar; and sisters Bertha Miller, of Silver Run, and Mary Underwood, of Sykesville.

He was predeceased by a brother, Clifford Stansbury, who died in 1959.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Hartzler Funeral Home, 404 S. Main St., Woodsboro.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, with Chaplain Esther Ziegler officiating. Interment will be in Union Cemetery in Keysville.
