Inez Violet Ballantine, 76, of Frederick, formerly of Woodstock, died Tuesday, August 5, 2014 at Encore at Turf Valley in Ellicott City. Born September 6, 1937 in Relay, she was the daughter of the late George M. and Viola S. Richardson Smith. She was the wife of the late Robert A. Ballantine, Sr., who died July 6, 2014. They were married January 25, 1954. Inez's passion was taking care of her children as well as opening her heart to many children. She was a generous, loving, and kind person. She loved big family gatherings and cooking. She enjoyed flying her plane and taking trips. She loved being with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a member of Bethany United Methodist Church. Beloved mother of children and spouses Robert A. and Debora Ballantine, Jr. of Woodbine, George M. and Kim Ballantine of Essex, Jewell A. and Robert Givens of Emmitsburg, David G. and Cherie Ballantine of Taylorsville and Wayne E. and Teresa Ballantine of Dayton; sister to Calvin Ira Smith of West Friendship, Grace Edna Keats of Centreville, Steward Mitchell Smith of Sykesville and Annie Elise Watson of Owings Mills; grandchildren Robert III, Tori, Stephanie, Keri Ann, Christopher, Corey, Joshua, Krystle, Amanda, Amie, Megan, and Amber; and 7 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by brother Milford R. Smith and by sister Edith May. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday at 1 pm at the Bethany United Methodist Church, 2875 Bethany Lane, Ellicott City. The family will receive friends one hour before the services at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to Bethany United Methodist Church, 2875 Bethany Lane, Ellicott City, MD 21042.
