Ione Garland Saylor, 87, of Westminster, died peacefully on Sunday, March 6, 2016 at her daughter and son-in-law's home. Born on October 29, 1928, in Mitchell County, North Carolina, she was the daughter of the late Russell L. and Daisy Marie Street Garland. She was the wife of the late Sterling Levine Saylor, her husband of 51 years. Ione was a 1945 graduate of Manchester High School. She was a gradate of Georgia Maude School of Cosmetology in 1947. She owned and operated her own beauty shop for many years as well as being a homemaker and mother. She was a member of the Eastern Star Lodge # 94, beginning in 1952. She was a long time member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Deer Park Road, Westminster, MD. Ione also enjoyed playing cards and Scrabble, attending events at the Westminster Senior Center, bus trips, watching her children and grandchildren participate in a variety of sporting, musical and theatrical events, playing piano in her later years, playing penny slots and traveling. She especially enjoyed spending time with her many friends and close family. Surviving her are two sons, Gregory L. Saylor and wife, Cheryl, of Severn; Keith D. Saylor and wife, Jimmie L., of Westminster; and daughter Teresa (Terry) L. Bowen and husband, Ray, of Westminster. She is also survived by grandchildren, Melissa Forbes, Anthony (Tony) Reightler, J. Russell Saylor, Megan Nelligan, Brooks L. Saylor, Kelsey L. Ridgeway, and Michael Saylor. She was predeceased by grandson Trenton (Trent) B. Reightler. She was the last member of her immediate family, having been predeceased by sisters Wilma Watts and husband, Robert; and Jewel (Judy) Smith and husband, Jack; brother Claude Garland and wife, Angela; sister-in-law, Betty Saylor Gillotti and husband, Robert. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, March 9, 2016 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at Pritts Funeral Home and Chapel, 412 Washington Rd., Westminster with a Eastern Star Memorial service at 7:30 pm. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 10 at 12:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Dahl Drenning officiating. Entombment will be in Evergreen Memorial Gardens, Finksburg.
