Irene Ellen Herman, 82, of Hampstead, MD, passed away on July 14, 2017 at the Dove House Hospice in Westminster, MD. Born January 13, 1935 in Leicester, England, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Evelyn Langton and the wife of the late Richard C. Herman. Irene worked for the Carroll County Schools as a cafeteria worker at North Carroll High and Shiloh Middle School where she not only nourished the students with food but nurtured them with love and care. Irene enjoyed collecting and selling antiques, and had a keen eye for vintage toys and glassware. She was a member of Hampstead Vol Fire Dept. Women's Auxiliary and a devoted parishioner of Hampstead Baptist Church. Surviving are her son, Rick Herman and wife Pam of Hampstead, MD; granddaughter, Rebecca Herman and fiancé Chris Bosstick of Baltimore, MD; grandson, Charles Herman and wife Sarah of Sprye, PA; great-grandson, Camden Herman brother, Malcom Langton and wife Valerie of Hinkley, England; brother & sister-in-law Milton and Nancy Herman of Manchester, MD and numerous nieces and nephews. A gathering of family and friends will be held on Saturday, July 22, 2017, from 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm at Eline Funeral Home - 934 South Main St, Hampstead, MD followed by a Celebration of Life Service at 2:00pm. A private family interment will be in Hampstead Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Dove House Hospice - 292 Stoner Avenue, Westminster, MD 21157.
