Irvan R. Cregger, 86, of Woodsboro, died Saturday, Jan. 11, 2014.

Born March 27, 1927, in Virginia, he was the son of the late Luther and Ada Cregger. He was the husband of Marian Cregger, his wife of more than 65 years, who died June 21, 2013.

He was in insurance sales for more than 60 years, from which he never retired. He was a World War II Army veteran and was active leading services at College View Nursing Home.

Surviving are children Carol Wantz and husband Harold, of Gettysburg, Pa., Janet Creswell and husband John, of New Midway, Judith Bryant, and Sandra Lausch and husband Dean, all of Lancaster, Pa., and Thomas Cregger, of Cascade; grandchildren Greg Wantz, of Gettysburg, Tracey Dellinger and husband Jim, of Fairfield, Pa., Blonnie Crispin and husband Joseph, of Deferiet, N.Y., John Creswell III and wife Hannah Martin, of Frederick, Jonathan Cirinicione and wife Dara, of University Place, Wash., Nicholas Cirincione and wife Sally Palmer, of Colorado Springs, Colo., Rebecca Beres and husband Stan, of Ephrata, Pa., Wesley Lausch and wife Emily, of Pittsburgh, Pa., and Emily G. Cregger, of Normal, Ill.; five great-grandchildren; sisters Fern Bodmer and Gwenda Fuss; and brothers Arnold, Leslie and Marvin Cregger.

He was predeceased by a son, Allan I. Cregger; and siblings Ruby Fitzpatrick, and Wayne, Elmer and Rhudy Cregger.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Frederick Church of the Brethren, 201 Fairview Ave., Frederick.
