Ivan Paul Rash, age 83 of Sykesville, died Wednesday, April 5, 2017 at his home. Born May 6, 1933 in Woodbine, he was the son of the late Curtis E. and Alice Bossom Rash. He was the devoted husband of the late Nancy Rash. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy having served 26 years. He was employed with a security group with the U.S. government. He was an avid gardener. He was a very devoted husband, father, and grandfather. Surviving are sons Gary Rash, Ryan Rash and his wife Susan, and Van Rash and his wife Mary, daughter Deborah Lombardi, by his son's life partner Mike Barbour, sister Esther Mercer, brothers John Rash, Glenn Rash, and Claude Rash, grandchildren Jennifer McGrew, Vandever Rash, and Mariah Rash, and great grandchildren Evan McGrew and Alexis McGrew. He was predeceased by his son, Thomas Rash and by his brother Edwin Rash. The family will receive friends at the Haight Funeral Home & Chapel, 6416 Sykesville Rd., Sykesville on Monday, April 10, 2017 from 6-8 pm. Inurnment will be in Lake View Memorial Park, 2724 Liberty Rd., Sykesville on Tuesday, April 11, 2017 at 1pm. Those desiring may meet at Haight Funeral Home & Chapel by 12:30pm to process to the cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Maryland SPCA, 3300 Falls Rd., Baltimore, MD 21211.
