J. Warren Weiss, 90, of Hanover, Pa., formerly of Upperco and Hampstead, died Friday, March 28, 2014 at Carroll Hospice's Dove House in Westminster.

Born November 23, 1923 in Upperco, he was a son of the late John W. and G. Grace Hampt Weiss. He was the husband of Mary M. Weiss who died December 18, 1991.

He served in the US Navy for 3 1/2 years during WWII. He was a member of the Glyndon Community Bible Class for more than 50 years. He was a graduate of Franklin High School and the Baltimore College of Commerce and was awarded a Certificate of Certified Public Accounting in 1950. He retired in 1987 as senior vice president and chief financial officer of American Trading and Production Corp. He also served as a director of Crown Central Petroleum Corporation for 20 years.

Surviving are daughter Cindy Cunningham and husband Dan, of Woodsboro; son Wayne Weiss and wife Patti, of Hampstead; grandchildren Shannon Thompson and husband Matt, of Mount Airy, and Philip Cunningham and his fiance Marlene Alvarez, of Sykesville; great-grandson Nolan Thompson; and sister Iva Rae Schultz, of Hampstead.

He was predeceased by sister Margaret Houseman and brothers-in-law William Houseman and Aubrey Schultz.

The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Eline Funeral Home, 934 S. Main Street, Hampstead.

Services will be held 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Rev. George Tuttle officiating. Interment will be in Evergreen Memorial Gardens, Finksburg.
