Jack Daniel Morningstar, 87, of New Windsor, died Tuesday, Aug. 22, 2012, at Carroll Hospice's Dove House.

Born April 16, 1925, in Baltimore, he was the son of the late Carrie Morningstar. He was the husband of Catherine Morningstar, his wife of 68 years.

Before retiring he owned and operated Morningstar Refrigeration for 62 years. He was a member of St. John Catholic Church in Westminster, the American Legion Post No. 120 in Taneytown, and life member of the VFW Post No. 8806 in Union Bridge. He was a veteran of World War II during the European and Pacific.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing guitar and singing. He was known to always have a smile on his face.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are daughters and sons-in-law Debbie Mahon and Jack, of Taneytown, and Wendy Sullivan and Richard, of Woodsboro; grandson Ryan Mahon and wife Mary, of Taneytown; and a great-granddaughter, Trinity Mahon, of Taneytown.

A memorial mass will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 15, at St. John Catholic Church, 43 Monroe St., Westminster. Interment will be private.

Arrangements are by Fletcher Funeral & Cremation Services in Westminster.
