Jack Edward Cowart, Sr., age 85 of Woodstock, died Thursday, January 14, 2016 at his home. Born November 1, 1930 in Detroit, Michigan, he was the son of the late John Hannigan Cowart and the late Ola Palestine Outland Cowart. He was the husband of Theresa Elaine Gillen Cowart of Woodstock. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps. He retired from the Baltimore City Fire Department and Catonsville Community College. Surviving in addition to his wife are sons Jack E. Cowart Jr. and his wife Sharon, and David B. Cowart, grandchildren Carissa Ann Cowart, Rebecca Cowart Kaufman, David B. Cowart, Jr., Katelynne A. Cowart, and Courtney E. Cowart, and great grandchildren Emily, Andrew, Blake and Emmitt. He was predeceased by his siblings, Gene, Kenneth and Faye Cowart. The family will receive friends on Monday from 2-4pm and 6-8pm at the Haight Funeral Home & Chapel, 6416 Sykesville Road, Sykesville where funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 10:00 AM with Rev. John Nupp officiating. Interment in Freedom Cemetery, Eldersburg. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the , 1393 Progress Way, Suite 908, Eldersburg, MD 21784.
