Jacqueline Langinier Derasse, 96, of Hanover, Pennsylvania passed away on Saturday, September 9, 2017 at Homewood at Plum Creek. Jacqueline was born on December 9, 1920 in Croissy-sur-Seine, France, and was the daughter of the late Ernest and Regina Langinier. She was the beloved wife of 68 years to the late Jacques Theophile Derasse, and who predeceased her in 2011. Jacqueline taught elementary school while living in France. When she moved to the United States and settled in Maryland she taught French at Hannah More Academy, Garrison Forest School, McDaniel College (formerly Western Maryland College), and St. Joseph College in Emmitsburg until retiring. Jacqueline was very active and enjoyed tennis, golf, knitting and tapestry. She loved to entertain guests with her singing of French folk songs, while accompanied by her husband on the guitar. Her passion for cooking was passed down to her granddaughter, Michelle and her husband Steve, and they honored her by naming one of their restaurants, "Bistro Petite Jacqueline". Surviving her are son and daughter-in-law Francois and Leta Derasse of Westminster; daughter-in-law Judith Derasse Wellstead of Bradenton, FL; grandchildren Michelle Corry of Portland, ME, and Eric Derasse of Long Island, NY; step-grandchildren Adam Barnett and Steven Barnett both of Westminster; great-grandchildren Samantha and Ryan Derasse, Seamus and Finnegan Corry; and step-great-grandchildren Natalie, Alexander, and Madison Barnett. In addition to her husband she was predeceased by her son Alain Derasse; and brother Robert Langinier. The family will welcome friends for a gathering of remembrance on Friday, September 15, 2017 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Pritts Funeral Home, 412 Washington Rd., Westminster. Services and interment will be private. Memorial contributions may be made in her name to the Carroll Community College Foundation towards the "Derasse Science Scholarship", 1601 Washington Rd., Westminster MD 21157.
