Mr. James A. Simms, Sr., 95 of Mount Airy, Maryland, went home to be with the Lord on September 22, 2015, at Lorien of Mt. Airy, Maryland. He was born September 10, 1920 in Mount Airy, MD. James was the son of the late John and Mary Simms of Mount Airy. He was the husband of the late Edith M. (Thomas) Simms. Mr. Simms will be missed by his children, Rev. Ernest Thomas and wife Caroline of Frederick, MD; Elise Dorsey and husband Leon of Charlotte, NC; Nancy Myers and husband Raymond of Frederick, MD; Pastor Mary Chaney and husband Pastor John of New Market, MD; Sheila Simms-Anderson and husband Adlar of Desoto, TX; James Simms, II of Gaithersburg, MD; Ernestine Simms-Kigh of Arlington, TX; Shirley Simms of Mt. Airy, MD; his brother and sisters, Richard Simms, and wife Judy of Frederick, MD, Mary Myers of Mount Airy, Bernice Davis of New York, Geraldine Dorsey of Mount Airy, and Joan Moore and husband Rev. Maurice of Baltimore, MD; sister-in-laws, Helen Dorsey of Baltimore, MD and Georgia Simms of Mississippi; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great children; and a host of loving cousins, nieces, nephews, good friends and neighbors. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM on Monday, September 28, 2015; Funeral service will begin at 11:00 AM at Burrier-Queen Funeral Home & Crematory, PA., 1212 W. Old Liberty Rd, Sykesville, MD 21784. The Reverend Ernest Thomas, Sr. is officiating. Interment will be at the Lake View Memorial Park, Sykesville, MD.
