On December 10, 2016, James Clifford Woolley, Jr. (SFC, U.S. Army, Retired) of Finksburg, passed away. Mr. Woolley was born on August 23, 1923 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Memphis, TN to the late James C. and Margaret B. Woolley. He was the loving husband of the late Ethel M. Woolley (nee Gipe). Devoted father of James M. Woolley and his wife Karen of Stewartstown, PA and Susan and her husband Dr. Bruce Havlicsek of Finksburg, MD. Dear brother of William M. Woolley of Mobile, AL. and the late Josephine Louise (Jody) Woolley and Sarah M. Legg. Beloved grandfather of James A. Havlicsek and his wife Cara Shey of Macon GA, Amy and her husband Josh Clark of Upperco, MD , Jason Wooten and His Wife Dr. Kathleen of Ellicott City, MD and Brian Woolley and his wife Nikki of York, PA and the late Emily Faith Havlicsek. Also survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews and six great grandchildren. Mr. Woolley was a graduate of L.C. Humes High School in Memphis. He served through 2 wars and engaged in 4 major battles in Europe during WWII as a member of the 8th Infantry Division. He was a proud patriot of his country. After his retirement from the military he worked over 31 years at the Westinghouse Aerospace Division in Linthicum, MD. He retired as a Senior Engineering Staff Assistant or March 1, 1984. Afterwards, he became very active in organizing reunions with his WWII Veterans. He was a life member of seven veteran's organizations and the NRA. He enjoyed all sports, music, classic movies and keeping in touch with friends. Burial will be at historical Elmwood Cemetery in Memphis, TN. There will be no services as requested by Mr. Woolley.
