James "Jim" D. Harmon, age 92 of Sykesville, died Thursday, September 28, 2017 at his home. Born February 7, 1925 in Stewartstown, PA, he was the son of the late Elisha James Harmon and the late Irene Alverta McDowell Harmon. Jim was a WWII veteran of the U.S. Army. He had been employed with Whiting and Turner Construction Company as a superintendent for many years. He was a member of Local 101. He was a life member of the American Legion in Stewartstown, a charter member of Stewartstown VFW, and was a life member of the Elks and Loyal Order of the Moose. He is survived by his daughter, Betty Pond, and by his daughter-in-law Marie Kunkle. He was predeceased by his sons George Kunkle and Roy Kunkle. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, October 3, 2017 from 3-5pm at Haight Funeral Home & Chapel, 6416 Sykesville Road, Sykesville. Inurnment will be on Friday, October 6, 2017 at 1:00 PM at Lake View Memorial Park, 2724 Liberty Rd., Sykesville. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the VFW Post 467, 519 Poole Rd., Westminster, MD 21157.
