James Harry "Jim" Stonesifer, 66, of Taneytown, died Sunday, June 28, 2015 at his home. Born August 26, 1948 in Gettysburg, PA, he was the son of the late Ralph and Frances Barrick Stonesifer. He was the husband of Margaret A. Mehring Stonesifer, his wife of 23 years. Jim was a graduate of Taneytown High School and served in the Army Reserves. He was employed with his father with Ralph W. Stonesifer Inc. in construction and he purchased and operated numerous feed mills, including Taneytown Grain and Feed, retiring in 2002. He was a life member of the Hesson-Snyder American Legion Post 120, Taneytown; and a member of the Masonic Lodge #203 A.F. & A.M., Taneytown, and Eagles Aerie 2226, Littlestown, PA. He enjoyed serving with the American Legion, was an avid John Wayne fan, and collected antiques. He especially enjoyed his time spent with family and friends. Surviving, in addition to his wife, are step-daughter, Christina Malat and husband, Stephen; son, Timothy Stonesifer and wife, Melissa; grandchildren, Cori Bencz, Madison, Morgan and Abigail Malat, and Anneliese Stonesifer; a sister, Doris Privitera and husband, Sal; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, R. William Stonesifer Jr. The family will receive friends at Hartzler Funeral Home, 404 S. Main St., Woodsboro on Thursday, July 2 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. A funeral service will be held on Friday at 1 p.m. at Grace United Church of Christ, 49 W. Baltimore Street, Taneytown. Rev. Steven Ostendorf, church pastor, will officiate. Military interment will follow in the United Church of Christ Cemetery, Taneytown. Memorial contributions may be made to Hesson-Snyder American Legion, 9 Broad St., Taneytown, MD 21787; or Grace United Church of Christ, 49 W. Baltimore St., Taneytown, MD 21787.
