James Howard "Jim" Hamilton, 82, of Taneytown passed away on Saturday, December 9, 2017 at Gettysburg Hospital. Jim was born on August 8, 1935 in Appleton, Wisconsin. He was the beloved husband of Patricia Ann Hamilton, and celebrated 47 years of marriage. Jim was a veteran of the United States Air Force, and was stationed in Libya during the 1950's during peacetime. He was employed until retirement at NASA Goddard Space Center and worked in space communications. He was an avid sports enthusiast, and enjoyed playing golf. Jim and Pat were avid sailors, spending almost 30 years going up and down the Chesapeake Bay on their beloved Sea Dream Catalina sailboat. He was a member of Westminster United Methodist Church. Surviving in addition to his wife are daughter and son-in-law Jennifer E. Blizzard and Keith of Union Bridge; son and daughter-in-law David H. Hamilton and Theresa of Taneytown; siblings Harlene Miller of New Port Richey, FL, Carol Barr of Appleton, WI, L. William Hamilton of Madison, WI; grandchildren Nicholas Blizzard, Evan Blizzard, Hayden Blizzard, Bryce Hamilton and Aubrey Hamilton; numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers Richard, John, and Gene Hamilton; and sister Nancy Spindler. The family will receive friends on Monday, December 18, 2017 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm at Pritts Funeral Home and Chapel, 412 Washington Rd., Westminster. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, December 19, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Westminster United Methodist Church, 165 E. Main St., Westminster.
