James Myrle Haines, age 87, of Hanover, PA, formerly of Randallstown, MD, died peacefully on Saturday, May 23, 2015, at his home. Born September 26, 1927, in Carroll County, MD he was the son of the late James Alton Haines and Marie Myrtle Farver Haines. He was the husband of Jean C. Haines of Hanover, PA, whom he married on August 29, 1952. Jim served in the United States Navy. He graduated from the University of Maryland, Class of 1951 and was a proud member of the Sigma Nu fraternity. He began his career as an educator in Baltimore County Public Schools. He then worked as an Administrator for Catonsville Community College and Hood College until his retirement. Jim was a member of the Sons of the American Revolution, the War of 1812 association and a longtime member of Wards Chapel United Methodist Church. He enjoyed building, woodworking, traveling with his wife and especially, spending time with his family and friends. He is survived by his wife Jean and his son and daughter-in-law, James Robert "Bob" and Christine M. Haines of Shelby Township, MI and granddaughter Nicole M. Haines of Dallas, TX; daughter and son-in-law, Sheila Ann and John R. Jacobs and grandchildren James Randolph Jacobs and Bethany Jean Jacobs of Moncure, NC. He is also survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Raymond and Eleanor Haines of Westminster, MD and nephew, Raymond Edward and his wife Deanna Haines of Finksburg, MD; and his sister, Marie Kunkel of Eldersburg, MD. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM at the Haight Funeral Home & Chapel, 6416 Sykesville Road, Sykesville. The family will also receive friends on Friday from 10 to 11 AM at the Wards Chapel United Methodist Church, 11023 Liberty Road, Randallstown followed by a funeral service at 11 AM at the church. Interment will be in Wards Chapel Cemetery. Those desiring may make memorial donations to the Wards Chapel Heritage Trust, 11023 Liberty Road, Randallstown, MD 21133.
