James David Nightingale, 77, of Finksburg, died Monday, June 5, 2017, at Caroll Hospital. Born September 8, 1939 in Westminster, he was the son of the late Nora Ruth Green and James D. Nightingale. He was the loving husband of 31 years to Gail E. Nightingale. He worked as a life-long farmer and also worked in the excavating and paving business. He enjoyed fishing and hunting and going to Deep Creek Lake. Besides his wife, he is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, James D. Nightingale, Jr. and wife Lisa and Harold F. Nightingale and wife Cathy, all of Finksburg, 5 step-children; Susan Boyd and husband Tom of Ruffin, NC, Bobby Loscomb of Littlestown, PA, Donna Knivel and husband Matt of Hanover, PA, Allen Loscomb and wife Amanda of Finksburg and Mark Loscomb and wife Kristen of Finksburg, a brother Daniel J. Nightingale and wife Wendy of Gettysburg, PA. Also survived by 30 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 7, 2017 from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. and Thursday, June 8, 2017 from 11 a.m. until time of funeral service; 1 p.m. at Fletcher Funeral & Cremation Services, 254 E. Main St., Westminster. Interment will follow at Trinity Lutheran Church Cemetery in Smallwood. Memorial contributions may be made in his name to Carroll County 4-H and FFA Fair, PO Box 97, Westminster, MD 21158 or Hilltop Assembly of God, 30 N. Cranberry Rd., Westminster, MD 21157
