James Richard Valentine, 92, of Emmitsburg, MD passed away October 4, 2016 at his home. He was the husband of Dorothy (Harbaugh) Valentine for 70 years. Born May 25, 1924 in Emmitsburg, MD, he was the youngest son of the late Emory E. and Annie (Moser) Valentine. Richard was a member of the Toms Creek United Methodist Church family. He lived, loved and worked on the family farm all of his life. He was an avid horseshoe pitcher winning numerous competitions and enjoying local fame. In addition, he loved to bowl and was a member of bowling leagues in Emmitsburg and Taneytown for most of his life. Turner of Charles Town, WV; two great-grandsons Christian A. Turner and William R. Turner; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son, Gary W.
