James William Huber, 85, of Westminster, died Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2014, at home.

Born Aug. 30, 1928, in Watertown, Wis., he was the son of the late Fred Oswald and Isabelle Coogan Huber. He was the husband of Joyce Genier Pancoast Huber, his wife of 60 years.

He was a commander and carrier pilot with the Navy, serving from 1950 to 1957, flying in more than 100 bombing missions in Korea. He received his bachelor's degree in engineering from Marquette University, where he was part of the R.O.T.C. and the Flying Midshipmen.

He was a mechanical engineer with Vitro Defense Contractors, retiring in 1986. He was an avid sailor and upon his retirement, he and his wife spent 1½ years sailing from Maine to Florida, including the Bahamas. He also played the cello and enjoyed playing for others; and was an avid Green Bay Packers fan.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are children and spouses Michael and Mary Huber, of Lancaster, Pa., Stephen and Karen Huber, of Sykesville, James Timothy and Ronnie Huber, of Severna Park, Kevin and Shelley Huber, of Chester, Va., and Mark and Maryann Huber, of Pasadena; four siblings; 10 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by two siblings; and an infant brother.

Services and inurnment will be held at a later date at Arlington National Cemetery.

Arrangements and cremation services were handled by Pritts Funeral Home & Chapel in Westminster.
