Jane L. Swam, 78, of Manchester, died Friday, April 4, 2014, at her daughter's home in Glen Rock, Pa., after a three-year battle with cancer.

Born Dec. 13, 1935, in York, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Marlin D. Reinecker. She was the wife of John H. Swam, with whom she celebrated 40 years of marriage July 14, 2013.

She resided in Manchester in the winter and Ocean City in the summer. She embraced the nature of the shore, and she enjoyed watching the shore birds, feeding the ducks and watching the fishing boats come in at the end of the day.

Surviving, in addition to her husband, are children Shelley A. Schwanke and husband Dennis, of Glen Rock, Pa., John S. Wood, of Manchester, and Jamie E. Swam and wife Erin, of Stewartstown, Pa.; grandchildren Jennifer A. Hoffman and husband Brett, John Taylor Wood, Jacie N. Wood, Matthew P. Schwanke, Lucas S. Schwanke, Eric M. Schwanke and Marin Iova Swam; great-grandchildren Bayleigh K., Koleman A. and Chayce O. Hoffman; and a brother, Joseph Reinecker, of Florida.

She was predeceased by her first born, Jenny Lynn Wood; a grandson, Evan W. Schwanke; and a granddaughter, Erin L. Orwig.

Private services will be held by her family.
