Janet Lena Stang, age 89, formerly of Union Bridge, died Thursday, August 20, 2015 at Lorien Taneytown. Born January 14, 1926 in Scotland, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Mary Little Groundwater. She was the wife of Albert F. Stang, who predeceased her on Sept. 11, 2003. Mrs. Stang was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, East Eden, NY. She enjoyed reading, birdwatching, word search puzzles and her cat, "Tanner". Surviving are daughter and son-in-law, Cheryl "Cheri" and C. Richard Stambaugh of Union Bridge; grandson, Douglas Paul Glair and wife, Julie of Baltimore; step grandson, Brett Stambaugh and wife, Kathy; step granddaughter, Shawn Russo and husband, Dr. Joseph Russo; step great grandchildren, Kandy Parker and husband, Nick and their son, Dylan, and Michael and Brandon Russo; sister-in-law, Florence Weiss of North Boston, NY; and several nieces and nephews. She will be missed by the residents and staff of Lorien Taneytown, whom she considered her family. Graveside services in St. Mary's Church Cemetery, New York, will be held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Carroll Hospice, 292 Stoner Ave., Westminster, MD 21157; or your local Humane Society or .
